Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication

Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication was established in 1990. The institute was originally named as Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication (SIJC), and later the name was changed to Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication.

The Institute is one of the leading media institutes in India. SIMC provides its students with theoretical as well as practical knowledge and aspects of mass communication.

The Institute is a part of Symbiosis family and is located on Senapati Bapat Road. The Institute has the largest Symbiosis campus in city.

Courses offered

Symbiosis institute of mass communication offers two year full-time postgraduate diploma programs in:

  • Post Graduate diploma in Communication Management
  • Post Graduate diploma in Mass Communication

Eligibility

Graduates in any discipline from a recognized University with 50% aggregate are eligible. Applicants expecting their final year results may apply. Their admission will be provisional and subject to furnishing proof of graduation with 50% by beginning of the Second Semester.

Selection process

The selection process is divided into two stages.

First stage: The student’s willing to get admission in Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication have to appear for the SNAP TEST i.e. Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, which is a written test conducted by Symbiosis for Postgraduate program.
The score of the SNAP Test is used to select candidates for the second round.

Second stage:  The second stage consists of a written test, a group discussion, and a personal interview. The weightage is as follows:
Written Test / Group Discussion / First round interview in cities: 50%
Final Interviews in Pune: 50%
