Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Institute of Education, Pune was established in the year 2005-06. The University is set up as an educational memorial of Lokmanya Tilak on the direction of Mahatma Gandhi. Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth received recognition from NCTE in 2005, for the implementation of Bachelor of Education course for the intake of 100 students. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).  The University is recognized and funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
